Fall Photo Fest at Empire Mine

Saturday was our Special Fall Photo Fest in Grass Valley at the Empire Mine State Park. To see the location go to http://www.empiremine.org/ This is one of the most beautiful places in this area for any kind of portraits. We love bringing High School Seniors here, families, children, newly engaged couples and we are looking for people with animals to bring here too so let me know if anyone is interested.

Desire' and I started out our day at 11 am with the Lenakakis Family. Their little girl Kyra won an honorable mention in our 2008 Baby & Child Photo Contest. Here is a sneak peek at their session...
One of our missions with our families is to try to get the family in action to show off who they are. To us that is what makes timeless photographs and makes this one my personal favorites.
We had a hard time finding Fall looking trees which is unusual for this park. I guess that the Fall colors are coming later at Empire Mine this year but we did find some beautiful red vines near a staircase that were perfect.
Let the children play and the smiles will come out!
Dawn you look like the master of those leaves... Click on the photo to enlarge it and look at the leaves falling from her hands!
The last shot for the family, here on one of the many brick staircases around the house. Thank you Yianni and Dawn for being a part of the Fall Photo Fest this year and coming to Grass Valley with us for your session. We had a blast with your family and your kids are super cute!

Fall Photo Fest at Empire Mine Continued...

This is the Mahoney Family. We had a trend going for families with two children! I guess it's a good number since I have two also : o) Jackie is their graduating High School Senior and little Mia is 4 years old and also our 4th place Winner in our 2008 Baby & Child Photo Contest! They were a lot of fun to work with and we got lots of good photos of them. Don't worry Jill I will help you narrow them down-I promise! Haha!
Jill wanted to get some cute sister photos of the girls and that is exactly what we did. I would love to take credit for the moments we captured between them but I can't! The girls share something awesome together and we could see it through our lenses. We can only take credit for what we have to print! You guys have done an awesome job raising your girls. Kudos to you both.
As the afternoon went on the park was full of beautiful light coming through the trees. We walked around the house in the center of the park and found some awesome places for poses.
Playing in the leaves is always fun for the whole family and creates fun portraits at the same time!Click on this photo to enlarge it, look at the leaf-claw on Jill! Scary, I wouldn't throw leaves at her anymore if I were you!
A little behind the scene shot here by Desire'. I was trying to help them up into the window and Desire' caught this funny shot of Jackie trying to climb the wall or is she hanging somehow from the sky?? It was worth the climb!
This beautiful portrait of Mia was taken by Desire' while I was doing her big sisters Senior Portraits. Don't you think Desire' is ready to shoot on her own?! She is awesome! LOL Des : o)
After the family portraits we moved on to Jackie's Senior Portraits. She is a lot of fun and very easy to work with. We had a good time placing her on the different walls around the park. Enjoy your sneak peek into your final portraits!
Thank you Karl and Jill for meeting us at the park and I am looking forward to sharing your entire session with you soon!

Fall Photo Fest at Empire Mine Continued...

This is the Cohen Family. They were referred to me by the Carpenter Family, thank you so much! As they say- "The greatest compliment is that of a referral." This family was super cute and all you had to do was say chocolate ice cream to get their little girl Ava to smile!
What a beautiful couple! I LOVE these green doors with their earth-tone clothes, it looks perfect.
Click on this photo to enlarge it and look at the baby's eyebrow-it's so funny! Don't they look so sweet together?
Max is at his 3 month mark so we got a few of him by himself. He is a pretty serious little boy so we brought out all the tricks... Daddy had to beat box for the smiles! Nick was really good at it- he had us all laughing. What we won't do to make our children smile.
We stopped for few more poses in front of the beautiful fountain for Ava and the whole family before we finished. As you can tell from the sneak peek photos there are so many awesome areas here to get different looks to choose from.

Thank you Nick and Staci for meeting us at the park for your family portraits, we will be in touch with you soon!

Peaglers Photo Session

This is Nia and her cousins. You may recognize her from our 2008 Baby & Child Photo Contest, she won an honorable mention award in the finals. As her gift for winning a placement she received a free session for being so adorable! Here is a sneak peek into her session...This is one of my absolute favorite shots. I love photos that are different and show off the personality of the children I am photographing. This was one of those moments where the kids are being goofy and when you catch it the right way... it looks amazing.

Nia was having a lot of fun playing on the stairs and in the railing around the patio area where we were. She is just too cute : o)
These two look like little models!
Our last shot of the day is of Nia sitting on the stones with a smile on her face, to melt mom and dad's heart.
Thanks you guys for having us take these portraits for you. We will be in touch with you soon to show you all of the other poses. Have a great week everyone!
